WHO IS PROTECTING BASHAR?

The lack of serious condemnation and punishment by the US, China and Russia is a green light to Bashar Assad to keep killing Syrian citizens. The world is responsible and is not taking serious actions. Words will not intimate the Syrian dictator.

Syria is known for its massacres over the last 45 years, whether in Lebanon or their own country. The language of peace does not exist for the Assads. Peace and reform is a defeat for them.

President Obama, the Arab League, the United Nations, the European Union are all quiet in their actions. Why? What are they afraid of? Why is the green light still on for a totalitarian regime while others have had their lights off? Does Israelis want tho maintain the "Devil they know best"? Why the double standards?
So many questions...so few answers. Meanwhile people in Syria keep dying. Someone should come to their help!!

Andrew Tabler, from the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, wrote a piece about sanctioning Syria via the oil sector, to decrease its revenues. This small steps approach is unlikely to bear any fruit as economic pressure can be circumvented by help from Iran, Syria's main ally in the region and possibly Russia as well.

The fall of Bachar and Maher Assad will require an act of international brutality, because that is the only language that the Syrian government understands...unfortunately.

"Ne testez pas la puissance de la Syrie, car la guerre se déplacera dans vos villes"

In plain english, it means don't test the power of Syria.

Well, we all know that Syria is full of air to say the least, if not full of **it

That's a great joke worth of every Homsi

Oscar in Lebanon

Movie production started over 6 months ago and the government in Lebanon is still pending negotiations and tribulations. Who will reap the benefits of the Telecom ministry? the Justice? the Interior and so on...

Totally ridiculous

Rather than recruiting the best man or woman to run a ministry effectively, a bunch of politicians hold the country hostage for their own interests such as this Michel Aoun to boost his superego or to the interests of Iran such as Hezbollah or Syria such as Sleiman Frangieh. Those who really care for Lebanon are crushed as they don't have the power, the guts and the brain to move forward their cause. Behind the scenes, it's all about who has the means to force the issue or not to force the issue.

The show will go on.

Lebanon is no more a country. It has become a movie in production and that's exactly what Syria and Iran want to convey to the world. It is only time before the country will collapse under the sunken eyes of Aoun, Geagea, Gemayel, Hariri, Frangieh but the laughing stances of Berri, Nasrallah, Qabalan and their followers.

The world is a spectator.

The remarkable work of dismantling Lebanon has to be awarded to the most foolish politician and by far that's Michel Aoun. What does he have to gain by stalling the country? At least, Hezbollah has an ideology, but Aoun?

If there were Academy Awards for political movies, Lebanon would top the list.

Keep watching.

Follow the Revolution on "Revolutionary Road"

What is happening in Iran is staggering. The power of the People is not to be underestimated and ought o be praised. If Russia fell at the hands of its own people, then the Iran clerics are not safe either. Freedom always prevails, although sadly at a high price. The deaths incurred by the protesters and the freedom fighters in Iran should not be in vain.

A Miscarriage of Justice

The release of the four Lebanese Generals implicated in the Hariri murder poses grave concerns for the nascent Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL). While the US has barely recovered from the OJ Simpson "innocence", the STL has quadrupled the record.

What led Detlev Mehlis to proclaim the guilt of the Generals and what drove his successors to scrap his findings? For those who truly understand the political system in Lebanon during the Syrian occupation know too well that the Generals are as guilty as it can be, at least for masterminding the execution of the plot to kill Prime Minister Hariri.

Should the STL be given the benefit of a doubt? Time will tell....and time is on Assad's side.

OBAMA

The question whether Obama or McCain will better serve the integrity, independence and sovereignty of Lebanon has been debated in many forums. While it is no surprise that most of my Lebanese friends favor the hawkish attitude of McCain towards Syria and Iran, Obama may be the soft spoken more vulnerable and naive president that the Syrians and Iranians are planning to exploit to their advantages. I believe both arguments are true of both candidates, which makes the issue more sensitive than it is.

After pondering on this issue for quite a while, I have concluded that McCain will really use Lebanon for achieving his goals in Iraq and that means swaying one way or the other depending on the flow of negotiations with the Iranians. Obama has deep values and even though might initially be fooled by Syrian and Arab despots, he will see through them after he realizes that they are full of smoke and lies.

So I'm voting OBAMA!!!!

How can the Lebanese State Praise a Murderer and a Terrorist?

I understand Hezbollah treats Kantar as a hero, but the Lebanese State as well? Shame on Suleiman and Seniora for their cowardly decisions to kiss the ass of Nasrallah and not stand on their grounds and principles of humanity. Another failure for the Lebanese State that ought to distinguish and distill itself from the crap that has engulfed Lebanon.
